For Pixel control products such as the Pixelator mini and Octo it would be nice to have a mode that translates 16 bit pixels into 8 bit dmx control. I have some 16 bit pixel dots that I really love (Great for camera, high refresh rate) but for my use cases I really don't need 16 bit control and do not have enough parameters to control them. In a lot of my projects I don't use a lot of controllers to their full capacity so it would be nice to give up the "Amount of pixels" a controller uses to use 16bit pixels with 8 bit control. So in practice I want the controller to breakup the 65,025 available intensity values into 255 steps if that makes sense. So if the pixels were RED MSB, RED LSB, GREEN MSB, GREEN LSB, BLUE MSB, BLUE LSB, WHITE MSB, WHITE LBS. I would want to be able to control them with 4 dmx Chanels instead of 8.
So as an example: DMX 000 = 000, DMX 001 = 255, DMX 002 = 510, etc..., etc..., DMX 255 = 65,025
Let me know if this needs more clarification.
Thanks,
Tyler

Just to add to this there could be a user definable non linear curve to the translation to give more granular dimming on the lower end and more coarse on the upper side. To compensate for the large discrepancy in dimming steps between 16 and 8 bit.
