The ELM license can only be actively used on one computer at a time. If you want to run it on multiple computers simultaneously, you will need to purchase a license for each machine.

Each license is registered to one individual or company and covers the activation of the software on a certain number of computers, depending on your request.

  • Entry Edition: supports four universes (allows up to 3 activations)
  • Standard Edition: supports 16 universes (allows up to 3 activations)
  • Professional Edition: supports 96 universes (allows up to 4 activations)
  • Super Edition: supports 256 universes (allows up to 4 activations)
  • Ultimate Edition: supports 512 universes (allows up to 4 activations)
  • Architectural Edition: supports 1024 universes (allows up to 4 activations)

ELM will only run on one computer at a time. For example, you can activate a show and backup computers, but only one computer can run ELM at a time.

The license is a simple file that you import once. No hardware dongles are needed. The right is linked to your computer’s CPU and motherboard. You can upgrade any other components and reinstall the OS without invalidating your license.

A license isn’t transferrable, meaning once your computer stops working, you can only activate ELM on another computer if you still have activations left.

You can stack multiple licenses on the same computer to get more DMX universes, for example two 8U licenses can be stacked onto one ELM computer to allow 16 universe of output.

Free ELM licenses

We are currently running a special promotion, where you can apply for a free ELM license when purchasing an ENTTEC Pixel Controller, the license will unlock the number of universes that the Pixel Controller can output, for example ENTTEC's Octo can output 8 universes, therefore you can apply for a 8U license.

Transfer ELM license

ELM licenses are non-transferable. Each license is provided with several activations to allow for computer upgrades or repairs. Your ELM license is tied to your computer's hardware ID. Your hardware ID will change when you change computers or perform a significant upgrade to your current computer. You will need to re-activate ELM using this new hardware ID.

To activate an additional computer, you will need to log in to your ENTTEC account. https://www.enttec.com/my-account/

Proceed to License Registrations.

You will then see your ELM License(s) in the License Registrations.

Click the change HW ID button to enter your new hardware ID. ELM shows your hardware ID under Settings>Licenses. With the hardware ID changed, you can download a new license file and import it into ELM.

The Reset Status column will show you many activations you have used and what is remaining. Once all your activations have been used, you will need to purchase a new copy of the software.

If you have run out of re-activation or are having trouble resetting a license, contact ENTTEC's support team.
