This guide requires you to have administrator privileges on the computer. If you do not, you’ll need to sign into an account that does or talk to you network administrator.

The guides below will show you how to modify both a ethernet adapter and WiFi settings:

GUIDE: Modify your ethernet adapter settings:

Step 1:

Open the Network Connections window.

This can be found by:

  • right clicking on the Start button in your task bar
  • holding Start + X

Step 2:

Click ‘Change Adapter Options’

Step 3:

Identify the network adapter that you want to configure and right click on it. Choose Properties from the drop down.

Step 4:

Then in the Ethernet properties window that appears, make sure you highlight “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” by clicking on it so it is blue and press “Properties”

Step 5:

This will show the IP setting being used, check the “Use the following IP address:” button and enter the IP address that is needed. Try to make sure you pick and IP address that is not being used by anything else you are connected to. Then set your Subnet mask, 255.0.0.0 will give you the best chance or discovering your ENTTEC device.
Note – For discovering ENTTEC devices all other field can be left blank, however you will not be able to connect to the internet

Once You have set your IP settings press ok or close on all the windows that had popped up through the process to make sure that the change is applied.

When you have finished configuring your device it is recommended that you set your computer back to obtaining an IP address automatically as to avoid issue on future networks you connect to. This is done by going through the same process but selecting the “Obtain an IP address automatically”
