Fatal Engine Error

A ‘Fatal Engine Error’ is shown on the LCD when the S-Play’s engine cannot run or boot as intended.

In some scenarios, this can be observed after resetting the S-Play to defaults and the unit restarting before the network service has fully restarted.

A potential cause of this is setting the device to DHCP when on a network with no DHCP server. Consequently, the device cannot get an IP on the network for the engine to run.

To resolve this, either:

  • Introduce a DHCP server on your network and power cycle your S-Play.

or

  • Set your S-Play to have a static IP using the LCD display, then power cycle it for the IP address to take effect.
